Any idea how to do this online/in chat?
1. I need to be able to draw cards from a standard 54 card deck with some of them being hidden and some of them being shown.
2. Some of these cards will then be kept and put into a separate, smaller deck.
3. These cards then need to be randomized and drawn.
I can do number 1, but I have no idea how to do 2 and 3. Help?
Roll20 has support for card decks. I haven’t kicked it around too much however.
I don’t know Roll20 well enough to say yay/nay, but otherwise, I’d write a program and then have that work as an irc/chatbot.
I’ve used the roll20 card set-up. It works great, but there is a fair amount of pre-work required.
I’ve used Roll20 for custom cards before, but if it can make a deck on the fly I’m not sure how to do it. James Stuart for someone who hasn’t programmed since Basic in middle school, how hard would this be to do?
Can you still do that basic-level programming, if you refreshed yourself up? Are you willing to spend a few hours hacking around? If so, I think you can do it! I’d ask a handy programmer to help you with wiring up the IRC/chat bot part of it, and then you can just mess around with the deck/shuffling thing.

Looks like Roll20 is thinking about implementing this kind of feature “soon.”
I love the suggestions on that link, Matthew Aaron, but I didn’t see anything indicating they would be implementing the pile-making and -drawing. I really hope they do! That would be perfect.
