Found this via the excellent More Seats at the Table newsletter, but dang, middle school was horrific enough for me. I don’t know if middle school horror would be cathartic or triggering. Looks like an amazing product, though.

CHARACTER

The forced choice lists of Apocalypse World from Meguey Baker and Vincent Baker showed me how a few considered details could conjure a character seemingly from thin air. You didn’t need a 20 page backstory to have a deep character; just define a few points and the lines between are inferred.

FOUNDATION:

What else would it be besides the Red Box? Found it in a hobby shop while visiting my mom’s best friend three states away (probably while looking at model trains), and spent the whole week – and then several years – engrossed in it.

IMPACT:

Lady Blackbird showed me that running an RPG could be as fun, creative and fulfilling as playing a character in an RPG. That changed my course significantly and opened up so many doors.
